Infrastructure and development contributions

New development can create additional demand for local infrastructure, facilities and services. Developer contributions help ensure that development contributes towards the infrastructure needed to support growth.

Under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, councils and other consent authorities can require contributions towards public amenities and services associated with development.

Council has developer contribution plans that establish how contributions apply to particular types of development across the Liverpool Plains.

Section 7.12 Contributions

Section 7.12 allows Council to impose a fixed development consent levy on applicable development. The contribution is determined in accordance with Council's adopted contributions plan and may apply to development applications and complying development certificates.

Section 7.11 Heavy Haulage Contributions

Council also has a contributions plan for applicable freight-based development. Section 7.11 contributions provide a mechanism for development to contribute towards infrastructure where there is a relationship between the development and the demand for that infrastructure.

Applicants should consider the relevant contribution requirements when preparing a development proposal. Any applicable contributions will be considered as part of the development assessment process.
