Local Strategic Planning Statement
The Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) sets out the long-term vision for land use and development across the Liverpool Plains Shire.
Looking ahead 20 years, the LSPS provides a framework for managing growth and change while protecting the qualities that make the Liverpool Plains a great place to live, work and invest. It brings together economic, environmental, social and cultural considerations to guide future planning decisions.
The LSPS is built around a vision for a sustainable, growing and thriving Liverpool Plains Shire and identifies nine planning priorities:
- managing natural hazards and climate change risks
- protecting and enhancing areas of environmental value
- supporting growth and diversification of the agricultural sector
- embracing tourism
- managing resources and renewable energy
- providing efficient transport and connectivity
- delivering infrastructure to support growth
- supporting sustainable and growing settlements
- protecting and celebrating our unique sense of place.
The LSPS helps provide the strategic direction for Council's land use planning and works alongside other key planning documents, including the Local Environmental Plan (LEP), Development Control Plan (DCP) and Council's Growth Management and Housing Strategy.
